I doubt it. I am not a lawyer in any way. The layman in me, with his tinfoil hat thinks that the FTC are trying to throw this case. So that Meta and anyone else they do this for will have precedent to make a break up in the future harder.
I am a bit curious to where this will go, I agree it looks to be what you say, an opportunity to throw the case and get a ruling that will fortify things against a breakup.
On the other hand Musk despises the Zuck and is petty enough to work towards breaking up Zuckerberg’s empire behind the scenes.
He would love to buy up chunks of it.
This a good point, and seems very plausible. Technocrats trying to fuck with each other using the courts is almost traditional at this point.

The Tech Policy Press outlet is a great news source. I do, however, wish they had more optimistic stories like an interview with a small business in the EU that is seriously benefiting from the interoperability requirements of the DMA. Everything is pretty doom and gloom. Anyway, this is not very related to the article itself posted here which is some great (not necessarily gloomy) reporting 🙂
EDIT: DMA not DNA lol

I don’t need to know anything about it so long as the FTC is non-credible.
This is where people make mistakes. When you pay protection the payments must never stop otherwise retribution will follow. Zuck forgot about that part.
So, let’s say they split up Meta. Does it become six different companies? Or do people like Elon and Bezos to get to pick over the remains? Hopefully the former and not the latter. I’m still pissed They let Meta buy Instagram and WhatsApp in the first place.

We still have an FTC?

It’s going to be “become Truth Social 2 or else we’ll break your company’s legs” from the Trump admin now.
I know Meta Zucked Trump’s peen and this will go nowhere.
Did zucko not pay his protection money?

What, he assuemd a one time payment was good enough? Nonono this isn’t how it works You paying up shows you can KEEP paying up.
Did Zuck’s check not clear yet?
Zuck… must’ve forgotten his protection money to El Crapo.
Suckerberg is a robot but he is way better at selling things than Musk.
RIP to Lina Kahn. What a legend.
