US can cut building emissions by up to 91%, saving $100 billion a year in energy-related costs, modeling study shows::The US has committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. To accomplish this goal, large cuts in emissions are necessary, especially in high-emission sectors like the building industry.

That article is frustrating to read. It says the same thing over and over again for several paragraphs without giving a single specific detail. It reads like a high school essay with a 300 word minimum.
That seems to be the trend nowadays, repeating the same thing as if they were trying to meet a quota. Often I see articles about a single tweet of about 100 characters, just summarizing the tweet several times with no additional info. Generating an article with AI would probably be even better now, especially when it’s just a summary of a study.
Chat GPT repeats itself over and over, wouldn’t surprise me if these articles were written by AI

Direct link to article. Article is also super jargon-y so the summary given was probably decently summarized for what it was
Thanks for the link.
One of my takeaways is they are using 100 year planning horizon and proposing building codes as a useful tool
Certainly updating building codes to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions are necessary. However that’s way too small a piece of the puzzle with way too long a time period
We don’t have 100 years to reduce carbon by 90%
Yet won’t!
