The joy of selecting cookie preferences on every single website never gets old…

Edit. And we have our first winner

Zalando, a German online fashion retailer, has filed a legal challenge over its inclusion on the DSA’s list of the largest online platforms, arguing that it’s being treated unfairly

Nevertheless, Zalando is launching content flagging systems for its website even though there’s little risk of illegal material showing up among its highly curated collection of clothes, bags and shoes

Twitter about to go offline in EU in 3… 2…

It’s now X. And good

Edit: good that it’s going offline…

… if you’re a fan of Elon boy, white supremacy, the alt-right, homophobia, “anti woke” propaganda, or making excuses for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Otherwise it’s shite.

Maybe (s)he meant good that it will be shut down in EU?

Yep, that exactly. I would actually be surprised there are a lot of people on the fediverse that actually like Twitter, but I have been surprised before.

Clearly I meant good it’s going offline.

paintbucketholder@lemmy.world on 24 Aug 2023 21:50 collapse

Clearly a lot of people didn’t read it that way.

But yeah, I agree with you: Twitter X going offline in the EU would be nice.

It will be an interesting test case for sure, whether the EU is willing to take down X/Twitter/whatever if they don’t comply. Or if they offer up some half-assed compliance, as per Elon Musk’s signature passive aggressive style.

If the EU doesn’t react forcefully to that, these regulations will be as good as dead, because why should anyone else comply if Elon gets a free pass?
