It’s a shame this clown is taken so seriously. I really wish Musk would just stop being so fucking vocal about everything he has no fucking clue about…

tux0r@feddit.org on 05 Aug 2024 19:02 next collapse

Who cares?

aleph@lemm.ee on 05 Aug 2024 19:05 next collapse

Because he is the owner of the very platform that helped to stir up the recent neofascist riots in the UK that led to POC being attacked and terrorized and properties looted and burned. His tweets are seen by millions of people, and greatly contribute towards online extremism and polarization.

tux0r@feddit.org on 05 Aug 2024 19:41 collapse

Wait, people still use Twitter?

SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 05 Aug 2024 20:09 collapse

Yes, literally the right wing asshats in question here.

Just because its an echo chamber doesn’t mean “no one uses it.”

Quill7513@slrpnk.net on 05 Aug 2024 20:20 collapse

There’s a big difference between “no one” and “no one worth associating with”, isn’t there?

Quill7513@slrpnk.net on 05 Aug 2024 19:27 next collapse

People who want to be alive next year and are aware of how dangerous he is

tlou3please@lemmy.world on 05 Aug 2024 19:57 collapse

I do. Comments like his are actively contributing towards the racist violent disorder taking place right now. It’s disgusting.

Jackthelad@lemmy.world on 05 Aug 2024 19:15 collapse

Is he taken seriously? Most of the stuff he says is ridiculed.

Quill7513@slrpnk.net on 05 Aug 2024 19:26 next collapse

But it is published and spread. That’s the part that is truly damaging

krimson@lemmy.world on 05 Aug 2024 20:21 next collapse

He still has a substantial amount of sheep behind him unfortunately.

treadful@lemmy.zip on 06 Aug 2024 03:26 next collapse

Beware the echo chamber.

Lautaro@lemmy.world on 06 Aug 2024 05:31 next collapse

Far-right activists from Argentina praise everything he says. The current president constantly talks about him like some sort of deity. It’s sickening.

PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca on 06 Aug 2024 12:40 collapse

My entire family and social group pays more attention to him than our prime minister. They get notifications on their phones anytime he tweets. When he tweets, all their phones light up and they drop everything they’re doing to check it and read it out loud/discuss it. I hate it.

I’m the only one around that I know of that doesn’t do this and it’s gotten me the nickname of “musk hater” simply because I don’t do that.

breadsmasher@lemmy.world on 05 Aug 2024 19:04 next collapse

tell me again how muski isnt following the russian playbook

SlopppyEngineer@lemmy.world on 05 Aug 2024 19:55 next collapse

and then it’ll be “eat the rich” time, and Musk is on the top of the menu.

UK should not let him into the country ever again

floofloof@lemmy.ca on 05 Aug 2024 20:32 next collapse

Elon Musk, who said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that “civil war is inevitable” following unrest in the UK.

That’s a very idiotic thing to say. He has no idea what the UK is like.

aleph@lemm.ee on 05 Aug 2024 20:38 next collapse

Being profoundly ignorant on a topic has never stopped him from tweeting about it.

AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works on 06 Aug 2024 05:35 next collapse

He has no idea what anything is like.

Not to mention that Elon’s side (fascism) would certainly lose. Just like WW2, South Africa, USA Civil War, etc.

It’s actually good for humanity when people like Elon lose.

the bbc has a mastodon instance, this article is coming from the bbc.

TheGrandNagus@lemmy.world on 06 Aug 2024 12:56 next collapse

They do. And I hope they commit to it. It’s currently in a trial period and they don’t do a lot on there.

EnderMB@lemmy.world on 06 Aug 2024 13:01 collapse

The BBC is partly at fault for continuously giving people like Farage a platform.

pewgar_seemsimandroid@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 06 Aug 2024 23:13 collapse

I think channel 4 did better, also from tldr news apparently farage denounced the riot’s, so he’s not clinically insane.
