Do advertisers even engage with that shit platform anymore?

TheTechnician27@lemmy.world on 16 Oct 2024 04:17 collapse

Unilever certainly does, so fuck them.

Elon’s fuckery of ‘The platform formely known as Twitter’ is the gift that keeps giving.

Here’s my suggestion for a new company motto:

“X: It’s Twitter but it’s Shitter.”

chaosCruiser@futurology.today on 16 Oct 2024 05:26 collapse

Sure keeps on giving. Reminds me of the time when Trump was President.

sndmn@lemmy.ca on 16 Oct 2024 04:26 next collapse

Anyone advertising there should go fuck themselves.

Lettuceeatlettuce@lemmy.ml on 16 Oct 2024 04:33 next collapse

Ah, so now people will be incentivized to spam more bombastic and extreme content to more and more fanatic groups, brilliant.

As ads revenue is crashing, they want to be able to rely on something less easy to quantify in order to modulate it. Previously they had to pay x cents per click, now they can just divide the little they earn arbitrarily in order to keep in the green.

Nobody gives a 💩💩💩!

Tarogar@feddit.org on 16 Oct 2024 05:01 collapse

I do give a shit, and at this point I want to see that platform taken down for good. Because otherwise it’s a platform for nefarious shit and abuse. And no one needs that. Especially not the gullible.

johnnybravo@lemm.ee on 16 Oct 2024 05:56 collapse

That’s a good way to give a 💩💩💩!

Linktank@lemmy.today on 16 Oct 2024 04:44 next collapse

I’m sure that will go well. Definitely won’t increase the amount of prank bullshit going on.

CosmoNova@lemmy.world on 16 Oct 2024 05:00 next collapse

Funnily enough that’s exactly what many full time microbloggers have been asking from Xitter for years. I always thought it was a silly idea and if you want to make money from your tweets print and sell them as a book like any other self-important celebrity or become a ghost writer for other people’s Xitty microblogs. If you’re that good, people will pay, surely.

People made careers out of tweeting?

I had no idea that was possible.

Stanley_Pain@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Oct 2024 05:22 next collapse

Not sure why people even bother with that site anymore.

db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Oct 2024 06:14 next collapse

Listen, we have “engagement”, why not call this type of of content “enragement”?

misk@sopuli.xyz on 16 Oct 2024 07:40 collapse

Engagement from other premium users* so that Twitter influencers have incentive to sell premium. It does sound like beginning of a pyramid scheme.
