In a surprise announcement, the Republican National Committee has revealed it is bankrupt. A spokesman for the party said they had plenty of money in their accounts last week, but today they just don’t know where the money has gone. But not everybody is going begging. Amnesty International, Greenpeace and the United Negro College Fund announced record earnings this week, due mostly to large, anonymous donations.

IllNess@infosec.pub on 09 Aug 2024 23:27 next collapse

Bankruptcy is a specialty of their leader. Perfect!

Stop posting US politics here. Why would anybody outside the US who comes here for “Technology” be interested in that?!

Stop posting US politics here. Why would anybody outside the US who comes here for “Technology” be interested in that?!

Seriously, IDGAF where it is, this post is not about technology at all.

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 00:45 next collapse

Exactly! Why are we even downvoted for this? People with political agendas are increasingly using every popular sub for posting their shit. Don’t care. Don’t want to see it.

Nutteman@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 04:50 collapse

Then… go away to another instance, bub. The things my country does affect far more than just the united states, unfortunately. I really wish we hadn’t fucked the globe up so bad and stuck our grubby little fingers into every pot, but we did. And now you all have to hear about it. It’s not changing any time soon, either until our political situation improves and we convince our politicians to stop. Wish us luck.

I can’t prove it’s true for you, but every time I read messages like this I think “lol look at that Uber conservative with bad ideas”

Edit: in your case the problem appears to be explosive diarrhea, not being a conservative. Consider me corrected. However another person heavily agreeing with you validates my bias so I’ll stick with it ;)

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works on 10 Aug 2024 04:23 collapse

Wait, what? Did you reply to the right person?

WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world on 09 Aug 2024 23:47 next collapse

Just because the technology involves politics shouldn’t mean it can’t belong here also.  Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?  I’m not pushing my beliefs on anyone here.

If you read the article (which I can only assume you did), it goes into detail about a how even  hackers from Black Hat and DEFCON (two well known cybersecurity conventions) were donating to a cause they believe in.  It even goes on to talk about hacking voting machines.

Seems like “technology” to me.

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 00:48 collapse

Literally every second word is about politics, names or institutions. Technlogy was merely mentioned.

Wilzax@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 17:08 next collapse

doodledup@lemmy.world on 11 Aug 2024 09:42 collapse

Behind? Behind what? The US is a third world country in many aspects. You mean military spending?

rusticus@lemm.ee on 11 Aug 2024 14:00 collapse

You look like an idiot by whining that this submission is about politics and not relevant to technology. And every additional comment adds to your idiocy.

You could either set up a filter, or go full-Karen and complain about it.

I see you chose the second option.

206 up, 20 down.

I agree with you though.

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 01:06 collapse

The majority of english-speaking Lemmy users are from the US. Sadly, they think that they are the onle ones. More importantly, they think that US politics is important to everyone outside of the US.

ruse8145@lemmy.sdf.org on 10 Aug 2024 03:35 collapse

Yeah us politics don’t really impact anyone else on the planet outside of the 50 states

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 07:18 collapse

It does affect other countries but not to the extent that people in the US think. The whole english internet is full of random election articles and posts. Yet in German news for example, barely anyone even mentions the US election. Harris is a new candidate and she now has a vice president. That’s pretty much the whole news of the entire month. It’s a side-quote. It’s really not that important.

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 15:10 collapse

How much U.S. military $$ is spent in Germany? You should shut up.

Adanisi@lemmy.zip on 10 Aug 2024 16:02 next collapse

Oh, not the “we fund you” narrative again. 🙄

The US military spent a lot in Europe, yet when Ukraine was first invaded this proved to be completely and utterly useless.

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world on 11 Aug 2024 03:12 collapse

Shut up, dimwit.

I hate that the U.S. hasn’t done tremendously more aggressive defense of Ukraine.

That’s just a tiny fraction of the overall financial investment across the EU.

Adanisi@lemmy.zip on 11 Aug 2024 12:46 collapse

“Shut up SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!1!1!

Lmao

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 18:21 collapse

This arrogance of some Americans is astonishing. You enjoy playing world police but you have no rights to force it on others especially when it’s not even related to the discussion. Literally don’t care where you spend your GDP. We spend it on the people, you spend it elsewhere. I don’t judge you if you stop judging us. We don’t spam European news on you but you should really read it anyways because I feel like you have a gap in your education.

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world on 11 Aug 2024 03:08 collapse

None of your gobledygook negates the fact that HUGE amount of $$ into Germany is incredibly important. And our politics make that happen.

There is zero argument against that.

I like Germany. I’ve been there while in the Army. I’ve been there as a civilian. I have no complaints or issues with Germany.

Yet, I’ll tell you again, “shut up” about bitching about U.S. politics. Our politics might be even more important to Germany than our own shit.

In closing, STFU.

doodledup@lemmy.world on 11 Aug 2024 09:45 collapse

You’re spending that money for your military imperialism. Not because you’re generous. And because you’re doing this anyways, we were smart about it and opted to spend our money in a better education and health care system. There is nothing to be proud of. You’re being taken advantage of.

ruse8145@lemmy.sdf.org on 10 Aug 2024 03:34 next collapse

doodledup@lemmy.world on 10 Aug 2024 07:22 collapse

I hate this stigma, hackers aren’t criminals, yes there are criminal hackers, but hackers aren’t criminals, I don’t have the time or patience to type out everything on my phone, but look up events like defcon, without friendly hackers our cyber security would be a joke.
