This could be written about a number of topics, great article.
Most of all about neo-colonial politics. Many actions presented as the opposite of that are in fact neo-colonial. Such as the kind of governments and forces and “recognized borders” all European and related countries (including USA and Russia) support very firmly (as in - helping suppress every movement contrarian to them with any amount of cruelty being allowed).
A good example of this scam that sticks out to me is plastics recycling. The marketed goal is a circular, sustainable^TM^ plastic economy. The real goals are uninterrupted plastics manufacturing and the maintenance of tax receipts from plastic goods consumption. Industry and government simply do not want less plastic in the world.
And straws. My plastic straw isn’t the problem.
If your don’t recycle your aluminum and other cans though, you’re a bad person and you should feel bad about it.
