the next Bandcamp Friday is on May 2nd, all the money from purchases go to the artists that day, without Bandcamp taking the cut

mesamunefire@piefed.social on 16 Apr 15:03 collapse

Nice

Ugurcan@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 17:29 collapse

Bandcamp is still owned by Epic Games though.

Edit: Wait, it’s worse. They just sold it to a Songtradr which immediately laid off half of the company.

SilentKnightOwl@slrpnk.net on 16 Apr 18:28 next collapse

Well shit. Is there anywhere to actually buy music from the artist?

Kolanaki@pawb.social on 17 Apr 09:50 collapse

Go to local shows and buy their… Shit, do they even sell CDs still? 🤔

SilentKnightOwl@slrpnk.net on 17 Apr 13:37 next collapse

I honestly don’t think it’s that common anymore, I’ve seen QR codes for Bandcamp or streaming more than CDs in the last 4 years or so.

Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 17 Apr 16:08 next collapse

CDs

Yup. And if you can’t find one, you can still get most of that second hand from pages like discogs.

SnortsGarlicPowder@lemmy.zip on 18 Apr 00:23 collapse

Vinyl? But then the band has to have a big enough fanbase, don’t think anyone in their right mind would press 100 vinyls to only sell 10.

cyberwolfie@lemmy.ml on 16 Apr 19:06 collapse

But Bandcamp Friday still gives all money to the artists, right? Or have they changed this?

primemagnus@lemmy.ca on 16 Apr 19:46 collapse

If it’s under new management I’d say all bets are off. Especially when they gut half their workforce. Something tells me they won’t miss axing a program that costs them money.

noodlejetski@lemm.ee on 16 Apr 22:13 collapse

they’ve announced how it’s going to be continued during this year just over a month ago: blog.bandcamp.com/…/why-bandcamp-fridays-matter-e…

heavyboots@lemmy.ml on 16 Apr 15:13 next collapse

Oh no. Anyway…

Alchalide@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 15:27 next collapse

I already was thinking why it was so slow. I think I’m just going back to Spotify revanced. It’s not worth the soon to be 15 euro per month.

_edge@discuss.tchncs.de on 16 Apr 17:51 next collapse

15€. I was shocked when it went above 10.

p_kanarinac@retrolemmy.com on 16 Apr 18:00 next collapse

Wait, where? I pay 8.99 for duo, I hope this isn’t global.

Alchalide@lemmy.world on 17 Apr 09:48 collapse

I was wrong, going to 13 euro per month for individual.

Qobuz is better anyway

Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 17 Apr 16:07 collapse

Jellyfin is even better.
