Twitter: looks like the reich guy won!

Good. Fuck X, and fuck Musk.

TseseJuer@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 17:25 collapse

plz no this weirdo has 1 too many kids. looks like a bloated turkey

hoot@lemmy.ca on 15 Nov 16:12 next collapse

Better late than never. But I’m pretty tired of all these people posting about how they’re leaving X now.

Thanks for supporting him and all the lies and insane demagogy up until the election. If you didn’t have an account on Truth Social, why did you still have one on X after he revealed himself so long ago?

psychothumbs@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 16:33 next collapse

I think a lot of people were sticking around to follow election news and try to effect the conversation, and are bailing now that it’s over in hopes of building up bluesky by the next one.

Telorand@reddthat.com on 15 Nov 17:35 next collapse

and try to effect the conversation,

And these people are insane. Elon has total control over the narrative, and the people that believe they can “throw sand in the gears” with some quippy xeets are delusional.

At least they’re moving, but fucking Christ; far too many people have main character syndrome.

psychothumbs@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 17:40 collapse

Eh idk, Elon boosting right-wing content doesn’t mean that nobody was seeing people’s anti-Trump posts on there, much less that they did any harm.

OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca on 15 Nov 18:22 collapse

And then wait for the next right-wing psychopath to buy up that one? You can’t jump off Twitter to another privately held platform and not expect the same to happen there sooner or later.

zarkanian@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 19:25 collapse

They think that the problem is Musk, because he’s the proximate cause. You can’t expect people who are uneducated about this stuff to make a systemic analysis, research decentralized alternatives, and then decide to go to Mastodon or whatever.

If they were that educated on the issue, they would’ve left X a long time ago.

EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 15 Nov 21:57 collapse

People are going to go where the people are. There’s a critical mass that has to happen for there to be enough impetus to cause a major shift. And this goes doubly so for people like artists who depend on being seen by people in order to put food on the table. I’ve seen tons of artists asking since Musk originally bought Twitter about where the hell they can go, because they’re chained to the popular social media platforms.

kokesh@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 16:25 next collapse

I think only “true patriots” will stay in the end. Generic maga scum, tRump & other assholes. He can get money from advertisements for tRump bible, tRump coin, tRump sneakers, tRumps diapers (hopefully not his personal). Wait… tRump will never pay the invoices! … as is the usual case with musk 😁

anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 15 Nov 19:10 collapse

He’s going to acquire truth social and merge it in. I would put doge coin on it, but not actual money

errer@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 19:28 collapse

I agree with you but it might go the other way around, Truth buying X instead…

anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 15 Nov 19:38 collapse

I thought that for a minute too but I figured the way where trump gets paid is more likely

SeaJ@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 18:58 collapse

I wish they would cite numbers proving this. Usage on another platform does not necessarily indicate an exodus. Bluesky may have seen a jump in users by a million but that only puts it up to 17 million users which is not much compared to Twitter’s 250 million daily users.

x00z@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 19:04 next collapse

Alleged daily users, right?

zarkanian@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 19:19 next collapse

We don’t know how many of those are bots.

SeaJ@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 20:36 collapse

Correct. But the same goes for Bluesky.

AbidanYre@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 20:31 next collapse

Twitter didn’t get to 250m users overnight. Give it some time.

ikidd@lemmy.world on 16 Nov 03:33 collapse

I think 17M is enough for critical mass. It’ll snowball now, it’s probably a lot more than Mastodon has seen.
