Got an ad for amazon on whatsapp just now. Fucking hate this company.
I am fairly close to telling people they can reach me on Signal or just call me. Sick of these ad-ridden and/or privacy nightmare chat apps.
I really want to but then ill have zero online friends and like 2 irl friends left 😔 people like what they are conditioned to like and will not change.
I got three out of five friends in a chat to leave Messenger for Signal. Pretty happy about that yield.
I slow down my conversation with the Messenger friends and let them know the rest of us are talking on Signal, maybe they’ll just hook up again sometime.

Living in Brazil without Whatsapp is hell, you lost 150% of you communication with the world and people just assume you’re a serial killer, because you don’t have social media.
Fucking countries need to get their entire communication system of corporate social media.
Gosh people need to think for themselves again and not just do whatever the lowest common denominator is doing.
If it was that simple… I agree that we need to get off Meta, but this country runs on Whatsapp, if I don’t have one, I can’t even talk to customer service or talk to anybody really.
Someone has to push for the change that we so desperately need. Someone needs to say no when everyone else is willingly bending over.
Don’t go cold turkey if that’s what you need to live but damn more people need to stand up and say fuck that noise, if it’s not a business then they have a choice to go somewhere better.
I tried before, but I made my life hell on earth. I only have whatsapp now because its mandatory. Since 2022, I only have lemmy, mastodon and unfortunately whatsapp as social media.
