Why are there so many downvotes on this?

alleycat@lemmy.world on 30 Jul 2024 10:44 next collapse

Because it’s an ad.

Quik@infosec.pub on 30 Jul 2024 16:01 collapse

Interesting, that seems to be the reason for most. Under which circumstances if any would you upvote a perceived advertisement?

Would you upvote a well written advertisement that you think makes the company’s intention very clear to the reader? Would you do so if the intention not only sounded realistic, but also like they want to achieve something net-positive?

Or is it really just being an advertisement that makes you downvote?

alleycat@lemmy.world on 30 Jul 2024 16:28 next collapse

I just want it to be disclosed that this is a form of advertisement before I click on the link:

The post should be clearly marked as advertisement in the title, e.g.

[advertisement] Title

And the post should contain a summary or at least an abstract, not just a link.

No, advertising is a cancer that is destroying the web.

I don’t get it either! It’s a good article and I 100% agree with the author. Maybe it’s because it’s talking about a service and the whole article can be considered as advertisement, but I don’t agree.

Quik@infosec.pub on 30 Jul 2024 15:52 collapse

Yeah, I don’t agree with the conclusion (like at all), but I still found the first 3/4 of the article very nicely put and definitely worth reading.

Bs title? No content in the post beyond a link?

zbyte64@awful.systems on 30 Jul 2024 15:20 collapse

My guess is there is a lot of text before it gets to the point

Entire article feels AI generated, right down to the typos.

dinckelman@lemmy.world on 30 Jul 2024 16:45 next collapse

This entire blogpost reads like a manic episode of an AI chatbot. What the fuck does half of that even mean

The “making the easy things easy” link sends me to a Amazon captcha check. Funny.
