They’re trying Google Glass again?

db2@lemmy.world on 27 May 14:07 collapse

It’s Apple, they’re clearly mimicking innovating it for the first time ever.

No AR, just camera, mike and speakers?

So this is only going to do one “app”, being Siri or whatever Apple calls their AI service now.

Sounds like the Humane AI pin but wear it on your face.

I don’t need or want this, but I’m curious as to whether they will make prescription lenses for it.

The shape of the lense is unconventional.

mbirth@lemmy.ml on 27 May 15:11 collapse

Yeah, I can’t imagine they do this single piece of glass approach they came up with in those designs…

Ulrich@feddit.org on 27 May 15:19 next collapse

The title is just a straight up lie:

Gurman notes that true AR-integrated glasses may still be several years away.

By year’s end, Apple aims to finalize prototypes sourced from international suppliers

mbirth@lemmy.ml on 27 May 15:19 next collapse

The glasses will include cameras, microphones, and speakers for real-time interaction, allowing users to make calls, get directions, enjoy music, and benefit from live translations.

I can do all that with my AirPods already. What would I need those glasses for?

Despite “AR” features being absent, do they at least have a simple display in them - similar to the Even Realities G1?

rottingleaf@lemmy.world on 27 May 15:55 collapse

With a display that could be useful, but Apple culture makes me say “no” anyway.

CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de on 27 May 15:33 next collapse

Is this like the Apple car? Just around the corner?

paraphrand@lemmy.world on 27 May 15:45 next collapse

The downvotes around here are insufferable.

TheFriar@lemm.ee on 27 May 15:55 collapse

lol what does that even mean? Four people downvoted it

who@feddit.org on 27 May 17:33 next collapse

The normalisation of constant surveillance makes me want to vomit.

letsgo2themall@lemmy.world on 27 May 18:09 collapse

great, another worthless tech product that no one asked for. I can hardly wait.
